My name is Meenamith Lepcha and I’m from Palitam, Namthang South Sikkim.

I find myself genuine and loyal towards my work.

Lepcha language shows the identity of me and my community. *It is our responsibility to preserve our language through different medium.

Why do you speak this language and work around the language?

For inner peace, happines, confident, identity, development, to built a strong community, to preserve our ancestral tradition, to preserve our roots from where we all belong.

What interested you most about working on translations of Lepcha to English and English to Lepcha?

I find both pattern very useful because at the end learning is important.

What were the challenges of the translation work?

Language barrier, communication gap, lack of words meaning and time management.

What made you feel good about the translation work?

It develop writing skill, new words explored, varieties of story received.

What was the hardest word or sentence you translated and how did you go about finding the meaning behind the word?

There were few words which I was unaware and with the help of Lepcha to English dictionaries i came to know.

Why is translation meaningful to you?

It is important for me and to everyone because it makes you understand how capable are you in your own language.? From here you’ll learn each and everything plays a very important role to make a capable one.
