Chhaya Namchu has been working in the Research and Development sector for over 8 years across grass roots, national and international organizations and think tanks. She has previously worked with International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development, Kathmandu, UN Women – India, and Integrated Mountain Initiative, New Delhi. Apart from which she has worked as project consultants for NRLM, IIED and Work Bank amongst other. Her interest and training in environmental research and projects was initiated through her involvement in working at the Mayel Lyang Lepcha Development Board in 2014. This understanding of Lepchas and other indigenous communities as the centre of environmental discourse has enabled her to grow and yet be grounded in every initiative that she has been a part of. She has a master’s degree from TISS, Mumbai.
