about me

My name is Mingma D. Lepcha from Pakyong, East Sikkim.

I actually don’t know the meaning of my name, sorry for that I tried my best to know the meaning from my elders, but they just said this name is taken from the Sherpa community and is a Buddhist name. I do have my sobriquet (Dchen), of which also I do not know the meaning.

Documentation I see as treasures we keep for the generations to come and also for ourselves. It’s a portal to nostalgia and life lived.

What is storytelling to me?

From my elder I collected short short stories and bound them up in a long story. Because of this project I got to know so many things but there is still a mystery in the village I studied as how the things lost the power they had before. Is it because people stop praying? Is it because of religion?
